The Northwest Raiders from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania program brought a surprising three teams (Pee Wee, Jr. Midgets, Midgets) to the 59th annual Pop Warner Super Bowl. But, on Sunday, December 6 at 4pm -- the raiders pee wee/130lbs. team, would experience first-hand, what a talented Miami, FL team looks like.
The Gwen Cherry Bulls from Miami, FL -- would effortlessly score 29 - points before the start of the 4th quarter and make the raiders fans question -- just how good their regional champs really were.
The bulls opening drive on offense, would consist of several big plays, courtsey of running backs (#1) Robert McMann and (#3) Rance Conner. Rance would muscle his way into the end zone from 1-yard out, to give the bulls the lead. Next play, Rance would line-up at wide receiver and QB Taverres Blackmon would connect for the extra point.
The raiders offense elected to pass early, due to the bulls speedy and aggressive Defensive ends' caused non-stop havoc. Unfortuatley, on the other end of that pass was CB Malik Rutherford. Malik would high-point the interception, and returned it over 50-yards for a touchdown.
The bulls special teams aided to lighting up the scoreboard as well. Forcing the raiders punter lining up at his own 2-yard line, to run out of the end zone (Safety) saving his team six points, instead of a block punt for a touchdown.
The bulls offense didn't take their foot off the gas. QB Taverres Blackmon looking like former Georgia Tech star QB Joe Hamilton, would throw a pinpoint pass to WR/DL De'Carlo Donaldson for a 32-yard touchdown.
Bulls CB Malik Rutherford would catch yet another interception and running back Robert McMann would put the icing on the cake, as the bulls would win 29-0 and take their foot off the gas in the 3rd quarter.
Here's a note: Gwen Cherry Bulls standouts - CB, Malik Rutherford, RB/LB, Rance Conner and DL/WR De'Carlo Donaldson were all selected to Generation Nexxt 7th Grade, All-Dade County Top 50.
Final: Bulls 29, Northwest Raiders 0.
