Miami Gardens Bulldogs in the Florida Youth Football league (FYFL) are taking things to another level off the field. The Bulldogs are in practice mode, like its home coming week, but this time they will be tackling a much different opponent. The Miami Gardens Bulldogs Organization has its sights on the Florida Standard Assessment Test, (FSA), and has extended its arms out to their entire league, and beyond to offer tutoring assistance in preparation for the Standardized Test, a measuring tool and often the deciding factor weather a student will advance with their class, or not.
On February 21, 2015, at Norwood Elementary, 19401 NW 14th Ave Miami Gardens, The Bulldogs held its first FSA Prep shop for students. Guided with a warm heart the Bulldogs 9U Coach Garrick
Nortelus along with girlfriend Latasha McFadden, President Kevin Brown, cheer commissioner Eboni
Honer , and team mom extraordinaire Keetonia Wilson led the charge, and got to work.
This group of adults, came together and took the fight to the FSA right in their own back yard. Coach Nortelus Said “I wanted a way to let the kids see Coach in a different light off the field. If Coach thinks books are cool then maybe I should think books are cool is the response I want.” This is definitely something the community needed.
