May 3, 2016

Elite Talent Football Academy in Roswell, Georgia is where I first saw Porter Rooks in action. Porter Rooks won Mvp honors that day by proving to be one of the top Receivers in the Class of 2020, he displayed great explosion out of his breaks running routes also the ability to separate from defenders. Watching this kid develop a year later and seeing his versatility this past season playing Rb just adds to his value. This Athlete scored 15 touchdowns in 5 games for his Southwest Middle School team and ran for 1,085 rushing yards those are nothing short of playmaker numbers. Porter Rooks is the number 5# ranked player in GenNexXt Class of 2020 Hot 200 and has earned all his accolades by proving it on the track & football field. With 100 meter best time at 11.4 & 200 meter best 23.1 this kid has the speed to blow the lid off a defense from his Receiver position. All the things you see in Porter Rooks that makes him so special are no doubt the reason the University of Louisville decided to offer this phenom. Porter Rooks is a well mannered humble God fearing young man with the hunger & drive of someone twice his age. Character is one of Porter’s biggest qualities as an athlete and a big reason the College offers will continue to come in for this young man.

Scouting Report

Porter Rooks is a 5th ranked player in the Country who is among the best and most exciting offensive players in the 2020 class. Rooks has a dynamic skill set, which is why he will yield tons of offers. At 6'1" and 182 pounds, Porter is built more like a running back than a receiver. He has a thick frame, and his strength is deceptive. The 5th ranked player a Charlotte native is an explosive athlete who has a ton of suddenness. Rooks can work on the perimeter or in the slot, as he shoots off the line quickly to launch into his routes. He can wiggle around jams at the line, and he skates out of his cuts to separate from defenders.

He had solid hands and ball skills, but his best attribute is his run-after-catch ability. Rooks is awfully elusive and quick with the ball in his hands, as he routinely shows off an ability to cut at full speed and dodge defenders. He has the vision of a running back with the ball, which is why it won't be surprising to see him in the offensive backfield in High School. Rooks can slash through creases to hustle to the second level, and he has the tight-space quickness to elude defenders in alleys.

Finally, Rooks is a fantastic return man. He has the quickness and confidence to effectively return punts, while he displays the strength and long speed to bring kickoffs back.
