At first glance Elijah Vaughn makes a coaches mouth water, a 2021 recruit with nice size, long arms, and knack for making the play. We met Elijah at our Dade vs Broward All Star Game tryouts, where he separated himself from his peers with the ability to take receivers out of the equation! Although soft spoken Elijah hassled even the 8th grade receivers at tryouts, with a champion caliber fierceness.
Elijah went into All Star Week without a name, but he quickly made a name for himself as he excelled passed the competition, and was named starter for the game. Being named a starter is a feat worth noting, because we had over 200 7th graders try out in Dade, only 60 players would make it to All-star Week, and only 30 of those eventually making it to the All Star Game, a setting where consistency is everything! Elijah is an athlete but seems to have found a home at defensive back, during this stretch of his young football Career. Watching Elijah Play in the All Star game he made a case for MVP shutting down one of the most explosive players in his class, in the entire nation! Most impressive is the way he attacks the line of scrimmage once has recognized run, Vaughn is a major run stop threat because he plays lightning fast, and almost impossible for receivers to block. A 50/50 ball becomes an 80/20 ball when considering, Elijah’s, big strong hands, height, jumping ability, and impeccable jump timing to reach the ball at its highest point. Elijah is excellent in man coverage but is more comfortable in multiple zone coverage's where he can watch the game develop in front of him, and use his instincts to make dynamic plays all over the field.
