How Do You Spell Victory? Parkview Panthers
by Alexis Aarons
Atlanta, GA – It was a scene straight out of a movie. With the sun setting, the stands full, cheerleaders prepped and parents dressed in team colors, the moment had arrived. The 11U Parkview Panthers of the AL South Division took the field against the Dacula Falcons of the NL North Division at South Gwinnett Park. Gwinnett Football League’s season had officially started.
From the first whistle to the last the Panthers dominated offensively and defensively allowing only one touchdown by the Falcons. It was clear that Parkview Panthers’s Head Coach Montay Parker had fully prepared the first team offense.
It wasn’t long before the Panthers had scored four touchdowns and successfully completed three extra point attempts. As a matter of fact, it was only half time when the scoreboard read Dacula Falcons 7, Parkview Panthers 27. With an entire second half to play this was still either teams game.
Getting frustrated in the fourth quarter, the Dacula Falcons showed some unsportsmanlike conduct, but the lost yardage seemed to be the much-needed fuel that added to the fire. The Falcons defense held the Parkview Panthers from scoring in the second half of this gridiron contest. On their final possession of the night the Falcons scored what would be their first and only touchdown.
Final score Parkview Panthers 27 Dacula Falcons 7
The good news for the Dacula Falcons is that this is only the beginning of the season. There will be plenty more to come between the teams of the Gwinnett Football League as they play over 1,000 games per season amongst almost 200 football teams. With 19 different member associations participating, be prepared for some high-spirited matchups. Cheerleaders included!
