SFYFL CHEER/DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS CROWNS A NEW GRAND CHAMPION
By Jonah Woullard
(October 23, 2010)- There is an old saying that, athletes lift weights, but cheerleaders lift athletes. After watching the SFYFLC Championships you would definitely agree with that statement.
We are used to watching our football teams score touchdown after touchdown and battling for high seeds in the playoffs, but you can’t discount the hours of practice, dedication, and the passion that’s all put in these competitive cheer competitions, and understand that this is the Cheer Super Bowl.
We’re talking about athletes throwing other athletes in the air, at times over 20 feet in height with precision and grace. Athletes flipping, tumbling, and nailing their complex routines, all with a common goal of bringing home a superior or even yet, a Grand Championship.
This year was no exception to all the excitement, as the cheer squads battled for supremacy in their respective divisions, the competition just seemed to get more intense as the day went on. After tallying the scores and cheer squads putting it all on the line, the 165 LB. Lauderdale Lakes Vikings with a score of 291 out of 300 was awarded South Florida Youth Football Cheer Grand Champion!
Below you will see the results from all cheerleading squads for the SFYFLC, and you can see just how close this competition really was.
We would like to congratulate everyone involved, all the teams that participated, and a special congrats to the 2010 Grand Champions, The Lauderdale Lakes 165’s, you all have been “Rated G!”
