By Jonah Woullard
(November 23, 2010)-As always, if you want to catch great youth football, then you needed to be at Milander Park Stadium this past weekend as Miami Dade Xtreme Youth Football League crowned eight new champions.
Starting with the small guys, the Pee Wee division was full of excitement, as the Lake Stevens Cardinals claimed their championship trophy, outscoring a tough Tice Tiger team.
The 75 LB division would be just as exciting as the Dania Bears broke the winning streak of the Kendall Hammocks Warriors. The Bears would take claim to their first MDXYFL championship.
The 90 LB division was a tough weight class to compete in all year, and in the Super Bowl it would be no different as the Dania Bears would be in a tough match up against the Grey Ghost. But the Bears would not be denied as they outscored the Grey Ghost to become the Super Bowl Champs!
The 105 LB division was a hard hitting game featuring some of the best football talent in South Florida. Both the Kendall Hammocks Warriors and Lake Stevens Cardinals played tough until the final whistle. But the Lake Stevens Cardinals would stand victorious as the new 2010 MDXYFL 105 LB Super Bowl Champs.
As for the Kendall Hammock Warriors 120 LB. team, it would be business as usual as the Warriors have been undefeated all season, and the Super Bowl would be no exception to that rule, as the Warriors defeat the South Florida Hurricanes for the 2010 MDXYFL 120 LB championship.
The 130 LB championship was won convincingly by the Doral Broncos who has a slow start at the beginning of the year, but really gelled when it counted the most in the Super Bowl against the West Kendall Dolphins. The Broncos bring home the championship!
The South Miami Grey Ghost 145 LB team set a goal to be champions in the pre-season, and came out and accomplished just that. The Grey Ghost defeated the North Miami Beach Sundevils to become the 2010 MDXYFL 145 LB Super Bowl Champs!
And finally, the defending 2009 Super Bowl Champs, the West Kendall Dolphins would have their hands full as they would be taking on the undefeated North Miami Beach Sundevils in the 175 LB division. The Sundevils would make more plays than the Dolphins did on this day, and would become the new 2010 MDXYFL 175 LB. Super Bowl Champions.
