Rebels Are Rolling
The Fort Lauderdale Rebels 85lbs Pee Wee squad in the American Youth Football League (AYFL), has faced a very tough opening schedule. Opening the season in dramatic fashion, they edged out the Pembroke Pines Bengals in a Friday night thriller 12- 8. The Rebels followed that week one performance, with a strong 15-0 win against another very good team, Tamarac Cougars who bested the Coral Spring Chargers in week one 13-12. No doubt the Rebels have the momentum, and will be looking to ride that into the rest of the season. Team confidence is not an issue as they take on the personality of their Coaching staff, who don’t mind talking a little smack, and backing it up on the gridiron. Offensive Coach Terry Said “We know we have the best team in the league, despite what has been written about other teams in the AYFL, 2014 super bowl will come through us this year, believe that”. Head Coach Dre’ explained “we are here, point blank period, this isn’t a false sense of confidence, or ploy to motivate my squad, this team is the real deal and we plan to prove it”.
About the Team
The FT Lauderdale Rebels Has probably the best quarterback/receiver combination in their class quarterback #2 Chris Robinson, and wide receiver Cris Thornton Jr. Chris Robinson is a dual threat quarterback he can take off running or put it accurately in the air. To his advantage,
he has Cris Thornton Jr at wide receiver who is tall, has good speed, and good hands. Rebels’ defense gets after it as well, against the Cougars they flew to ball and caused turnovers and really impressed with their tackling ability. Linebacker #58 Ra’mone
Drisdom is a hitter with his husky frame and speed to the point of impact he is a menace for the opposing offense. On his side linebacker #24 Zaneel Noellien is a speed demon amazingly fast to the ball reacts quick and ends plays before they can develop, at times RB’s looked to have a running lanes but Noellien closed the gap very quickly.
The Fort Lauderdale Rebels won’t have it easy, as they will have some tough matchups in the coming weeks, but they will see the weaker part of their schedule until a week 10 showdown with the Miramar Wolverines 85lbs led by Coach Chop, and pre-season favorites. It should shape up quite nicely in the AYFL’s 85lb Pee Wee division, and of course you got it here first with Generation Nexxt.
